Dak Prescott is expected to have a big senior year.
The Mississippi State quarterback is coming off a record-setting junior campaign that saw the Bulldogs rise to No. 1 in the country for five weeks. He finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting after being in the discussion for most of the season.
He picked up his first honor of the preseason Monday, as he was selected to the Phil Steele Preseason All-American third team.
The Haughton, La., native passed for 3,449 yards and 27 touchdowns last year. He rushed for 986 yards and another 14 scores.
Prescott was a first team All-Southeastern Conference selection by the publication as well.
Junior defensive lineman Chris Jones was a third team All-American honoree on the defensive side. The Houston native recorded 26 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and eight quarterback hurries as a sophomore.
Jones was an All-SEC second team pick.
Senior cornerback Will Redmond was selected to the All-American fourth team and All-SEC first team. The Memphis, Tenn., native recorded 51 tackles, three tackles for loss and tied for the team lead with three interceptions last season.
Junior wide receiver De’Runnya Wilson was an All-SEC third team selection, while senior kicker Devon Bell made the fourth team.
Wilson led MSU with 47 catches for 680 yards and nine touchdowns a season ago.
