Malik Newman is expected to make a commitment on Friday, but a report surfaced Wednesday afternoon claiming the Callaway guard was headed to Mississippi State.
CBS’ Gary Parrish reported that Newman will commit to MSU during his noon press conference Friday. He quoted a couple of coaches from staffs involved in the recruiting process of Newman.
However, the Clarion-Ledger reported Newman has not made his decision and the report by CBS is untrue.
“No, I haven’t committed,” Newman, a five-star prospect, told Courtney Cronin of the Ledger. “Right now I’m down to my final four schools – Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kansas and Kentucky.”
Newman told reporters at the Jordan Brand Classic that he plans to only sign scholarship papers with the school he commits to.
