It wasn’t the greatest of weeks for the Mississippi State football program off the field.
The Clarion Ledger first reported that redshirt freshman offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins was arrested Thursday on a warrant for simple assault. The Clarksdale native was booked and released from the Oktibbeha County Jail on bond the same day.
Teammate De’Runnya Wilson was arrested in Alabama on Friday for second degree possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
“We have very high standards and expectations for all of our student-athletes,” MSU head coach Dan Mullen said in a statement. “Any time an accusation is made against one of our student-athletes, we investigate fully and not jump to any conclusions.”
MSU was on spring break last week and the week began with Dak Prescott, Damian Williams and Torrey Dale being attacked at a concert in Panama City, Fla.
All three were uninjured and cut their trip short and returned to Starkville. The trio decided not to press charges.
MSU opens spring practice Tuesday.
