Mississippi State football players Dak Prescott, Damian Williams and Torrey Dale were attacked in Panama City on Monday, a source close to the football program said.
M&WN Football first reported the news.
The source said the MSU football players “were jumped” and did not “instigate” the incident.
“We got jumped for no reason, It’s sad we can’t go anywhere without being attacked by people,” Williams tweeted from his Twitter account Monday night.
He also tweeted, “Police watched it happen.”
MSU students are on spring break this week, and spring practice does not start until next week for the Bulldogs.
The source said Prescott was headed back to Starkville and that all three players were fine after the incident.
Pictures floating around social media showed what appeared to be Prescott with blood on his face and a few bruises.
Quarterback Prescott rose to fame this past season as he led the Bulldogs to a No. 1 ranking and finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting.
