Blog – MSU cancels Valley game, move in polls, Robson gets honor

Tuesday’s Mississippi State game against Mississippi Valley State has been cancelled, the team announced Monday.

The Bulldogs will either reschedule the game with the Delta Devils or schedule a different opponent. The Feb. 17 ticket stub can be used for the rescheduled game.

MSU’s next game is this Friday against Marshall. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. from Dudy Noble Field.

After going 4-0 on the opening weekend, the Bulldogs moved up in the polls.

The Bulldogs entered the D1 Baseball poll for the first time, as the debuted at No. 24. MSU moved from No. 23 to No. 21 in Perfect Game’s poll and made the jump from No. 20 to No. 18 in the Collegiate Baseball poll.

MSU remained No. 14 in Baseball America’s poll. The USA Today Coaches poll and the NCBWA poll have not been released.

MSU sophomore outfielder Jacob Robson was selected as a one of the Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball. He reached base safely in 16 of his 17 plate appearances. He had six hits, was walked five times and was hit by two pitches. Last season the Windsor, Ont., native was just 1-for-16 at the plate.
