Spurred by ESPN’s launch of the SEC Network in August 2014, a school-record 47 of Mississippi State baseball’s 56 regular-season games will be televised this spring, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday. In all, the new network quadruples last spring’s SEC baseball nationally televised schedule, with more than 450 conference games available to fans this season.
Eleven of those 47 televised games make up part of the 100 planned television network games, including games on ESPN2, ESPNU and the SEC Network. The first network game for the Maroon and White is a 2 p.m. SEC Network contest against Arizona at Dudy Noble Field on Saturday, Feb. 28. Other SEC Network games include Saturday’s Super Bulldog Weekend battle against Florida April 18, the three-game series at Ole Miss May 7-9 and the regular-season finale at Tennessee May 16.
State’s other network contests include ESPNU telecasts April 2 vs. South Carolina, April 19 against Florida, April 30 vs. LSU and May 1 against LSU. The series finale against the Tigers May 2 will be carried live on ESPN2, which is presented in 95-plus million households.
The 36 remaining televised contests will air live on SEC Network + (HD Streaming), which is available through SECNetwork.com and WatchESPN. SEC Network + replaces MSU’s 2014 online video platform, HailStateTV, as MSU’s HD digital live stream provider.
On Friday, May 15, the SEC Network will present Bases Loaded Coverage, going live from game to game as the 2015 SEC Baseball Tournament bracket takes shape. In total, all 30 of MSU’s conference games will be televised. The SEC Network and ESPN2 will also provide comprehensive coverage of the SEC Baseball Tournament, marking the first time the entire tournament has aired on national television.
Opening Day for the Maroon and White is Friday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. CT against Cincinnati at Dudy Noble Field.
