MSU junior linebacker Benardrick McKinney was a first team All-American selected by ESPN.com, the site announced Friday.
It is the second All-American honor for the Bulldog, as he made the Walter Camp Foundation All-American Second Team. He is the sixth Bulldog linebacker to be selected as an All-American and the first since Mario Haggan earned a selection in 2000.
The Tunica native led MSU with 61 total tackles. He had eight tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.
McKinney was also an All-Southeastern Conference selection by ESPN. It is his fourth all-conference selection this season.
Joining him on the All-SEC Team is junior quarterback Dak Prescott and senior offensive lineman Ben Beckwith. It is the fourth All-SEC selection for the two offensive players as well.
Prescott was a finalist for the Maxwell Award, given to the most outstanding player in college football, and the Davey O’Brien Award, given to the top quarterback.
Beckwith won SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week three times this year.
