Blog – MSU’s Mullen, Prescott up for awards

Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen is a semifinalist for the Maxwell Coach of the Year Award and quarterback Dak Prescott is semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, as announced on Wednesday.

Mullen has gotten the Bulldogs off to a 9-1 start and they spent five weeks at No. 1 in both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches poll. Mullen has gotten the Bulldogs bowl eligible for the fifth-straight season and promised the first winning season in SEC play during his six-year tenure.

Prescott has been a big part of the Bulldogs’ success this season. He has passed for 2,521 yards and 20 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 11 touchdowns and over 800 yards.

A list of five finalists will be announced on Dec. 3. The award is voted on by head coaches and sports information directs. It will be presented to the winner on Dec. 11.
