Blog – Prescott, McKinney semifinalists for national awards

Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott is a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, while linebacker Benardrick McKinney is a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award.

The Maxwell is given to the top player in college football, while the Bednarik is presented to the best defensive player.

Prescott has thrown for 2,025 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for 725 yards and another 10 touchdowns. The junior has caught two passes for 35 yards and a touchdown. He is one of four Southeastern Conference players to make the list.

McKinney leads the Bulldogs with 50 tackles. The junior also has six tackles for loss, three sacks, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He is one of five SEC players to make the list.
