Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott told Sports Illustrated he might leave after this season.
He told the magazine if he’s projected as a first-round pick, he’ll leave. He also said he would “strongly consider” leaving if he’s a second- or third-round pick.
“When the time came and there’s an option, first, second, or third round and I had the season I wanted to have, I’d go,” Prescott told SI.
He is on track to graduate in December, and head coach Dan Mullen expects him to be back for his senior season.
“I’d be shocked, but you never know,” he said.
The Haughton, La., native has accounted for 2,089 yards of total offense and 23 touchdowns this season. The junior has completed 96-of-156 passes for 1,478 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has thrown only four interceptions and two of those came against Auburn last week. He has rushed for 576 yards and eight scores, and has caught two passes for 35 yards and another touchdown.
