Injuries continue to pester the Mississippi State men’s basketball team.
The team announced Monday that junior guard Craig Sword will miss four to six weeks and junior college transfer Johnny Zuppardo will be out for the season.
Sword will have surgery Thursday in Nashville, Tenn., due to irritated nerves in his back caused by a bulging disc. He was MSU’s leading scorer a season ago.
An MRI revealed a torn meniscus and ACL in Zuppardo’s left knee. He will have surgery in the next two weeks and will seek a medical hardship.
The Bay St. Louis native transferred in from Jones Junior College, where he won a national championship.
The Bulldogs have already started practice and open the season on Nov. 14 against Western Carolina at home after a Nov. 6 exhibition against Delta State.
