With 12 players from either high school or the junior college ranks, Mississippi State’s 2013-14 baseball signing class is the No. 6 recruiting class in the nation according to Collegiate Baseball.
All 12 players are All-Americans at their respective levels.
MSU’s class was ranked No. 2 a year ago, giving it back-to-back top 10 classes for just the third time in school history. The other times were the classes of 1985-86 and 1990-91.
“It is humbling when national industry experts identify the work of (assistant coaches) Nick Mingione and Butch Thompson, two of the best recruiters in the entire country,” head coach John Cohen said in a school release. “It is cliché to say the overall value of our recruiting class will not be known until a few seasons from now, but we feel very confident in their ability to develop and perform at an extremely high level.”
MSU starts fall ball Oct. 14, as they will scrimmage. The scrimmage is open to the public.
