Mississippi State baseball signee Dale Burdick has decided to forgo playing college baseball and start his professional career.
Burdick made his decision known on Twitter Saturday afternoon.
The Spring Hill, Tenn. native was taken in the 40th round, the last round, of The First-Year Player Draft earlier this month. Burdick was thought to be in the mix for a middle infield position on the next year’s Bulldog squad.
Burdick is the second Bulldog signee to go pro. Catcher Chase Vallot signed with the Toronto Blue Jays after being taken 40th overall.
