Mississippi State and Arizona have agreed upon a home-and-home meeting in football for the 2022 and 2023 seasons the two schools announced Thursday.
The first meeting will be in Tucson, Ariz. on Sept. 10, 2022. The two teams will meet at Davis Wade Stadium on Sept. 9, 2023.
“We’re very excited to announce this series with a Pac-12 program the caliber of Arizona,” MSU athletic director Scott Stricklin said in a school release. “It will bolster our non-conference schedule. We haven’t played in that part of the country since 2002, so it gives our fans a chance to see another part of the country while supporting the Bulldogs.”
The SEC mandated that all 14 schools must schedule home-and-home series with programs from big conferences beginning in 2016. MSU has not announced opponents for 2016-2021, but this is a good start.
This will be the first meeting between the two schools on the gridiron. It will be the first Pac-12 opponent for the Bulldogs since the 2003 opener against Oregon.
Former Bulldog athletic director Greg Byrne is currently the athletic director at Arizona.
