Mississippi State’s Jacob Lindgren may have had the best day of his life on Thursday.
The junior left hander was named as a finalist for the 2014 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award.
He was also drafted 55th overall by the New York Yankees in the First-Year Player Draft.
The Bay St. Louis native was moved to the bullpen this season and the move paid off. He recorded 100 strike outs in 55 1/3 innings, while having the lowest earned run average on the team at 0.81.
Lindgren has until mid July to make up his mind, but he will more than likely not return to Starkville for his senior season.
MSU signee Chase Vallot was taken 40th overall by the New York Yankees. Vallot is a catcher out of St. Thomas More High School in Youngsville, La. He will also have until mid July to make up his mind.
