Blog – MSU to settle on pitching rotation Thursday morning

Mississippi State head coach John Cohen and his coaching staff will decide on who will start on the mound for Friday’s opening game against San Diego State in the Lafayette (La.) regional Thursday morning.

David Murray of Dawgs Bite Magazine reported that junior right hander Trevor Fitts will start. Cohen said in a text that the starter for Friday will be set on Thursday morning.

Fitts is 4-3 with a 2.51 earned run average this season. He has started 15 games this season.

He was not the Friday night starter to begin Southeastern Conference play, but when Preston Brown was sidelined with an injury, Fitts was moved into the opening night role, so it will come as no surprise to Bulldog fans if he starts game on.

That leaves junior left handers Ross Mitchell and Lucas Laster to pitch the rest of the weekend as needed.
