Mississippi State head coach John Cohen will return to Columbia, Mo. and the University of Missouri for the first time as an opposing coach when the No. 22 Bulldogs (23-15, 7-8) face the Missouri Tigers (17-18, 6-9) for a three-game Southeastern Conference weekend series.
Cohen was a graduate assistant with the Tiger baseball team from 1992-94. He then was boosted to an assistant coach from 1995-97.
Cohen says he has been back one time to Columbia, Mo. He went with a couple of people in the MSU athletic department to tour the Missouri athletic facilities.
Saturday’s game will begin at 6 p.m., Saturday’s game will start at 2 p.m. and Sunday’s first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
Junior right hander Trevor Fitts (2-2, 3.29 ERA) will get the start Friday, while junior left hander Ross Mitchell (5-3, 2.15 ERA) will go on Saturday. The Bulldogs have yet to announce a starter for Sunday.
Cohen said either Ben Bracewell or Brandon Woodruff will start Sunday.
The Tigers will go with junior right hander Brett Graves (3-2, 2.67 ERA) Friday, junior righty John Miles (2-4, 5.25 ERA) Saturday and senior right hander Eric Anderson (2-2, 3.15 ERA) in the finale.
