Blog – MSU, Adidas reach new deal, new uniforms unveiled

Mississippi State and Adidas announced a new seven-year agreement, as well as new specially made uniforms for both baseball and football.

MSU athletic director Scott Stricklin announced a a seven-year contract extension with the clothing company at a press conference on Thursday afternoon. The new contract will run through 2020, with 2014 serving as the first year. The contract is worth $17.5 million, including cash and gear.

MSU and Adidas originally had deal worth $3 million over five years starting in 2009. Year one of the new deal replaces the final year of the old agreement.

“It is going to allow us to continue that relationship,” Stricklin said. “Adidas was very loyal to us when we didn’t have a lot of options.”

Stricklin said in 2008, before the deal with Addidas, different sports were using different companies and there was no uniformity.

The press conference also unveiled specially made uniforms for the baseball team to wear during Super Bulldog Weekend, and a uniform commemorating 100 of years of Scott Field that the football team will wear in the first game of the season against Southern Miss in Sept.

The baseball uniforms were designed to have a vintage look, utilizing modern Adidas technology. The “Code cream” uniforms feature true maroon tackle twill and piping, a Climalite engineered body to keep the Bulldogs cool and dry in any condition and Formotion Raglan Seaming to increase range of motion for players at every position.

The football uniforms have “HAIL STATE” written across the front, with a patch celebrating the 100 year anniversary of Scott Field.

The design is based on the 1990s uniform, a decade in which the Bulldogs captured the 1998 Southeastern Conference Western Division Championship.

The football uniforms will just be worn for the game against Southern Mississippi.
