Blog – MSU’s Cox done for the season after surgery

After a 17-2 win over No. 3 Vanderbilt, Mississippi State head coach John Cohen said junior right hander Will Cox’s season is done.

“He had a surgery,” Cohen said. “So yeah, he will be done for the season.”

The Amory native had surgery this week on his throwing arm, but Cohen wouldn’t comment specifically on what kind.

His last appearance came against UC Santa Barbara on March 7.

Cox made just four appearances this season and didn’t register a decision. He had an earned run average of just 2.25.

Cox joins fellow pitchers John Marc Shelly and Paul Young, who have already had season-ending surgery.
