A Mississippi State spokesperson confirms that sophomore right hander John Marc Shelly will have season-ending Tommy John surgery.
The Germantown, Tenn. native left Sunday’s game in the fourth inning after being inspected by the trainer.
Shelly appeared in just two games this season and had an 0-1 record. He gave up two runs on two hits this season.
“Appreciate all the prayers and support from everyone. Ready to come back next year even stronger!” Shelly tweeted on Monday afternoon.
