Mississippi State has faced some tough competition this season.
Of the Bulldogs’ five losses, four of the opponents were ranked when they beat MSU. The fifth, Auburn, is now ranked seventh and still in control of their own destiny in the Southeastern Conference Western Division.
With all the challenges and hurdles the Bulldogs have already faced this season, the biggest yet waits this Saturday.
The Bulldogs (4-5, 1-4) host No. 1 Alabama (9-0, 6-0) this weekend in a game where the Bulldogs are 25-point underdog.
“It’s still the SEC,” MSU offensive coordinator Les Koenning said. “The five losses we’ve had, have been to top 20 teams. We’re facing some really good football team and Alabama right now is the best of all of them.”
The Bulldog players share the same mindset as their offensive coordinator. They know they have been through the ringer with their competition, so they are not backing down from the two-time defending national champions.
“They put on their pads just like we do,” sophomore running back Josh Robinson said who rushed for 73 yards in last weekend’s game against Texas A&M. “All we have to do is execute every play. It’s going to be a long slow game and we already know that. We just have to have the mindset going into it.”
