Mississippi State is pretty banged up this week.
The Bulldogs (4-3, 1-2) travel to Columbia, S.C. this weekend for a showdown with No. 14 South Carolina (6-2, 4-2).
Bulldog head coach Dan Mullen started his weekly press conference Monday by updating all the injuries entering this week.
As previously stated this season, sophomore offensive lineman Justin Malone, junior defensive back Jay Hughes, junior linebacker Ferlando Bohanna, redshirt freshman tight end Gus Walley are out for the season.
Mullen said that junior tight end Brandon Hill, redshirt freshman defensive lineman Jordan Washington and redshirt freshman defensive lineman Torrey Dale are out for this game with the Gamecocks.
Mullen also said senior quarterback Tyler Russell, redshirt freshman wide receiver Brandon Holloway and junior wideout Jeremey Chappelle will be limited in practice but should play.
Dan Mullen grew up watching Steve Spurrier coached teams.
“I was a big fan of his growing up,” Mullen said. “I never met him until I was coaching at Florida. I don’t know how much he influenced my coaching deal, but I was just always a big fan of his growing up.”
True freshman tight end Artimus Samuel and offensive lineman Jamaal Clayborn made their debuts against Kentucky last Thursday.
“They hung in there,” Mullen said. “They did some good things. They made a lot of mistakes, but they did some good things, which was good to see to me. The stage wasn’t too big for them. They came in, they were ready to play and they went out there and performed.”
