Blog – Pregame: Bowling Green at Mississippi State, homecoming (with video)

Records: MSU (2-3), BG (5-1)

Kickoff: 6:30 p.m.

Stadium: Davis Wade Stadium

QB matchup: MSU senior Tyler Russell (17-27 for 279 yards passing, 2 TDs, 1 INT) and sophomore Dak Prescott (56-105 for 815 passing yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs – 318 rushing yards on 49 attempts, 6 TDs) vs. BG sophomore Matt Johnson (103-158 for 1,395 passing yards, 9 TDs, 3 INTs)

Officials: Referee – Tom Ritter, Umpire – Casey Moreland, Linesman – Johnny Crawford, Line Judge – Tim Beard, Field Judge – Bobby Ables, Side Judge – Bobby Moreau, Back Jude – John Wright, Alternate – Dirk Bell

One big thing to watch: The Bulldogs are 2-0 this season coming off of a loss. The Falcons have played well this season, but the loss at Indiana should encourage Bulldog fans. MSU needs a win to keep them in the bowl hunt. They need four more Ws (Bowling Green, Kentucky, Arkansas and Ole Miss – the four winnable games, I think, that are still on the schedule).

Gameday surprise: Justin Senior will start at left tackle in place of Blaine Clausell. Dylan Holley will start at center in place of Dillon Day. Kaleb Eulls will start at defensive end for Preston Smith. Chris Jones will start at defensive tackle for Eulls. Justin Cox and Taveze Calhoun at cornerback. Cox taking Jamerson Love’s spot.

Defensive coordinator Geoff Collins

Offensive coordinator Les Koenning

Pregame song(s): Nobody Wins by Radney Foster – No reason in particular for this song. I just like it. I hope you enjoy.
