Blog – QB position analysis (with video)

This one was pretty easy.

Senior Tyler Russell will be in his second season as a starter. As a junior, the Meridian native broke several school records.

Coming into fall camp, Russell was one of the very few who was already penciled into a starting position.

Backup QB Dak Prescott is coming off offseason toe surgery. He didn’t do much in the spring, other than sit on a bucket and throw a football.

This fall was his first real action since last December.

“I’m ready,” Prescott said. “I’m about 100 percent ready to go, there’s just doing a good job of limiting somethings I can do. It’s really just getting out there, getting everything back, getting comfortable, getting my feet back under me and enjoying being out there with my teammates.”

There is also true freshman Damien Williams, but he will more than likely be redshirted.

I caught up with offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Les Koenning, Russell and Prescott this week.
