OXFORD – The No. 24 (Collegiate Baseball) Mississippi State Bulldogs (36-15, 13-13) took both games last Saturday in a double header, but were unsuccessful this Saturday.
MSU lost 3-0 and 10-8 to the No. 27 Ole Miss Rebels (35-16, 14-12).
“It’s a good league and everybody creates their great atmosphere on the road,” MSU head coach John Cohen said. “We just did not to do some basic things (Saturday) to put ourselves in a position to win.”
The Bulldogs only had two hits in the first game and left 11 men on base in the second.
“We came out, swung the bat,” MSU junior outfielder Hunter Renfroe said. “We lost out identity. We popped some balls up and swung and missed a lot. You can’t have that.
“We didn’t come through in the clutch. We didn’t do what was needed to at the point to get it done.”
Ole Miss will go for the sweep tomorrow at 1 p.m. The game can be seen on CSS.
