Mississippi State sophomore right hander Brandon Woodruff had season-ending surgery Thursday morning, MSU head coach John Cohen confirmed on his weekly teleconference.
Although Cohen wouldn’t mention what the surgery was for, he said it “not major surgery” and “something that’s been gnawing at him for a little while.”
The Wheeler native made only seven appearances this season with six starts. He was 1-1 with a 4.34 ERA.
In Woodruff’s last start of the season, he pitched 1.1 innings against Ole Miss in Pearl.
He will undergo rehab this summer and be back for fall ball.
