MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 17 (Collegiate Baseball) Mississippi State Bulldogs (32-10) square off against the Memphis Tigers (25-16) at 6:30 p.m. at Autozone Park.
MSU junior right hander Evan Mitchell is set to get the start tonight. It will be his first action since not being able to get out of the first inning against Kentucky on March 23.
“Evan has worked extremely hard in his bullpens and his preparations, and we just feel like he’s earned this opportunity and we want to reward him,” MSU head coach John Cohen said. “We feel like we are a better pitching staff when he’s part of it.”
Mitchell has seen success in Autozone. In a 2011 win over the Tigers, Mitchell pitched 4.1 innings in relief to pick up the win. He struck out 11 of the 17 batters he faced.
The Tigers will throw
senior left hander Michael Willis (3-2, 1.96). Willis had made four appearances including two starts at Autozone Park. He is 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA in his four outings at Autozone.
