With No. 18 (Collegiate Baseball) MSU leading 6-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, lightening struck causing home plate umpire Scott Cline to pull both the Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers off the field.
The rains shortly followed and after about an hour delay a decision was made to resume game one of the three-game Southeastern Conference series following tomorrow’s conclusion of game two. Game two is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and can be seen on Comcast.
The Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-3 lead. They added two runs in the sixth to stretch their lead. Wes Rea hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to tie things up at 1-1. It was his fourth home run of the season.
MSU senior left hander Luis Pollorena only lasted 3.1 innings. He gave up three runs on five hits. He was pulled after giving up a walk and a single with one out in the fourth.
MSU brought in sophomore lefty Ross Mitchell. Mitchell got a 4-6-3 double play to end the threat. Mitchell pitched thee innings in relief. He have up only four hits and no runs.
MSU brought in sophomore closer Jonathan Holder when Mitchell gave up back-to-back singles with one out in the seventh. Holder got two strikeouts to get the Bulldogs out of trouble.
