Blog – Baseball notes: Graveman SEC Pitcher of the Week, Top 25 polls

After pitching his second consecutive complete game, Mississippi State senior right hander Kendall Graveman was selected as Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Graveman induced 19 ground ball outs on Saturday and the Bulldogs knocked off Florida 2-0 last Saturday.

MSU is coming off a 3-1 week. The Bulldogs beat South Alabama on Tuesday and returned home to take two out of three from Florida on the weekend. The three wins were good enough to get Mississippi State back into the polls.

MSU moved back into the Perfect Game poll checking in at No. 22 and crept back into Baseball America’s poll at No. 21. MSU dropped from No. 24 to No. 26 in the latest Collegiate Baseball poll.

The Bulldogs are now fifth place in the SEC West, just behind this weekend’s opponent Texas A&M.

MSU will travel to Pearl tomorrow to take on Ole Miss in the Governor’s Cup at Trustmark Park. The Bulldogs will send sophomore right hander Brandon Woodruff (1-1, 4.15 ERA) to the mound.

Woodruff is coming off a six inning performance against South Alabama last Tuesday. He gave up one run on three hits.
