Blog – Pregame: Florida at No. 24 Mississippi State (with links)

The No. 24 (Collegiate Baseball) Mississippi State Bulldogs (24-8, 3-6) are looking to pick up their first Southeastern Conference series win of the season.

They will have to do it against the Florida Gators (14-16, 4-5). The Gators have won three in a row including the final two games against the Ole Miss Rebels last weekend.

MSU is in sixth place in the Western Division, while Florida is in fourth in the Eastern Division.

Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. from Dudy Noble Field. It can be heard on MSU Radio or can be seen on HailState TV or on your IPhone.

Tonight’s matchup features MSU senior LHP Luis Pollorena (4-1, 3.34 ERA) vs. Florida junior RHP Jonathon Crawford (1-4, 4.46). Saturday’s pitching matchup consist of MSU senior RHP Kendall Graveman (3-2, 2.43) vs. Florida freshman LHP Danny Young (1-2, 3.12). Sunday’s pitching matchup has yet to be set.

MSU senior catcher Mitch Slauter will get the start behind the plate. He didn’t travel with the team to Arkansas last weekend and didn’t play against South Alabama on Tuesday due to a throat soreness. He had surgery last week on his throat.
